The toy manufacturer Mattel and the Italian car manufacturer have started an unexpected collaboration.
The result is an extremely limited edition of a Barbie car.
It may sound like a joke, but it is in all seriousness.
Barbie Maserati Grecale is the name of the car which is what it sounds like: A Barbie car from Maserati.
The car is based on the Trofeo version, so it is equipped with a V6 engine of 530 horsepower. Both exterior and interior are pink base tones with yellow effects, where inspiration has been taken from Trident’s racing heritage.
“The Grecale SUV is designed to turn an ordinary everyday life into something exceptional. The perfect choice is to match Barbie’s versatile lifestyle: everything from business meetings to a glamorous event. Timeless design and a bold character powered by the phenomenal 530 horsepower V6 engine. It’s adrenaline,” Maserati writes on its website about the car.
It’s a unique car to say the least – and the range doesn’t exactly make it any less unique.
The Barbie Maserati Grecale will only be built in two copies. How much it will cost is still unclear, but the toy manufacturer Mattel will donate ten percent of the proceeds to the Barbe Dream Gap Project, which is a project to strengthen girls’ self-belief.
