One of the world’s most iconic cars can now be yours.
The Batmobile from “Batman returns” is out for sale.
It is the American dealer Classic Auto Mall that has posted the unusual car ad.
Because it’s not every day that a genuine batmobile comes up for sale.
The copy in question comes from “Batman returns”, which premiered in Sweden in the summer of 1992. In the film, Michael Keaton played Batman while Danny DeVito had the classic role of “the penguin”. Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken also played big roles – as well as the Batmobile, of course.
After filming, the car ended up at the 6 Flags amusement park in New Jersey, where it had to settle for being a prop for a Batman attraction. It may seem like a waste of resources – but the car, which has an electric steering system, is only capable of about 50 km/h. In addition, it is not permitted to drive the vehicle on public roads. But according to the ad, at least the car’s flamethrower should work.
Just as expected of a batmobile, it is filled with buttons and levers that, at least in theory, should be able to activate various types of weapons. However, the flamethrower seems to be the only function that actually works. And if you look closely, you will understand that there is room for three passengers. The driver’s seat is wedged behind the two front seats and during the filming it was from this place that the hidden stunt driver drove the car.
The Batmobile is out at a price of 1.5 million dollars, corresponding to approximately 15.6 million kroner.
